history_50_03.jpgA History of Davlan Engineering, 1963 to present

Lanny Lamont and David Weitz, Sr. founded Davlan on the belief that if you provide a quality product, at a competitive price, with timely delivery, and consider yourself part of your customer's team, you will grow with your customer.

Since the first project in 1963, Davlan has delivered on this promise and the company has grown and earned an unsurpassed reputation for precision and performance. We hope you enjoy a look back at the past 60 years.

  • Davlan was founded in an 800 sq ft cellar. Two high school friends, Lanny Lamont and Dave Weitz,
bought a lathe for $100.00 and carried it into this 6 foot tall fruit cellar and began producing their
first jobs. While keeping their day jobs they worked nights in order to complete orders
  • Davlan’s first customer was Consolidated Pattern Company
  • First logo

  • With a lot of dedication, Davlan succeeded in outgrowing the cellar
and moved the operations to the garage of Dave's new home.
  • Davlan's first delivery vehicle

  • Davlan continued to grow and soon found itself
out of space again. The search began, and a lot was purchased
at 3644 Scarlet Oak Blvd., in Tree Court Industrial Park

  • With added space came added machinery requiring
    the first of many additions.

  • Second Addition

  • Third Addition

  • Davlan adds foundry capabilities with a 50% share in
Brentwood Castings, Inc. (now Carr Lane Castings)
  • The neighboring building and lot is purchased for future expansion.
  • Davlan devotes an entire department to the production
of modern art for renowned artist Ernest Trova.

  • Davlan is awarded a government contract to produce smoke
grenade launchers requiring additional space to be rented in
    Valley Park.
  • Due to the performance on this government contract,
Davlan is awarded the Small Business Association
Prime Contractor of the Year award.

  • Davlan updates its corporate identity
    to coincide with 20th anniversary.

  • Increased demand on the punch press department leads to a fourth addition.

  • Davlan purchases 50% share in Quality Screw Machine Products

  • With the increase in CNC horizontal, vertical and turning centers
Davlan is out of space again and adds it's fifth addition.

  • Davlan creates a web presence with the launch of its first website.

  • A sixth addition is added allowing space for (2) two-ton overhead bridge cranes,
additional waterjets, press brakes, a Trumpf laser, production saws and a vibratory
    finishing room.

  • Davlan updates its corporate identity to
    coincide with 50th anniversary.
  • The original building plus all six additions are painted to provide
    one uniform, updated look.
